Head of Buying

Buyer - Menswear

 

We are a WA based successful fashion retail chain looking to expand our buying team with two exciting roles.

 

As a Head of buying you will lead a small team of buyers, assistant buyers and a stock controller. You will be a crucial figurehead, strategist and a final decision maker with key responsibilities covering:

 

  • understanding external and internal business indicators and setting departmental and supplier KPIs in order to maximize business turnover and profitability

  • spearheading planning and budgeting process and setting buying targets

  • supplier performance reviews

  • buying team management and development

  • inter-departmental communication and relationship management

  • conducting regular store visits in order to maximize stock and visual opportunity in each store

  • communicating grid and allocation needs to the buying team and ensuring optimum stock level in the business are achieved and reviewed regularly

  • direct buying responsibility for accessories portfolio

 

You will currently be in a senior buying role, looking for a next career opportunity and ready to take on significant management and strategic role in the business. You will still be able to keep your buying instinct sharp by managing accessories portfolio across the group. 

 

As a Menswear Buyer you will be responsible for direction and development of men's apparel categories, which are a major part of our business. You will be a visionary with a strong pulse on the market and able to predict and expect turnaround in trends, but always understanding our core consumer. Your key responsibilities will be:

 

  • supply chain management; sourcing/negotiation/pricing/feedback and product development in conjunction with key brands
  • achieving and maximising key KPIs: sales /closing GP margin/GMROI
  • managing inventory and forward commitments in order to achieve closing stock targets 
  • conduct regular supplier reviews in order to maximize relationship benefits
  • reviewing brand mix and ensuring investment in the most profitable areas
  • manage the assistant buyer's workload

You are currently in the buying or product development role, looking for a larger portfolio are ready to take on responsibility for key business decisions. You can handle pressure and deadlines and have extremely good negotiation skills that will cover all organizational levels. You understand the buying and planning process and systems and have working knowledge of these from your previous experiences.
